SurfPrep 3" X 4" J-Hook & Loop Backup Pad (No Hole)

A back up pad, also known as a backing plate on a sander, serves as a platform for attaching sanding pads and other accessoories. It provides a surface for the abrasive to adhere to (either PSA or Hook & Loop) and also offers cushoning for smoother sanding and better surface contact. Backup pads help evenly distribute pressure, reduce vibrations, and even improve access to difficult-to-reach areas. The J-Hook & Loop pads have a longer hook profile, offering a stronger hold—perfect for pairing with Pad Savers, Interface Pads, Film, Paper, and Non-Woven Discs/Pads.

NOTE: Applying excessive pressure can cause the "hooks" to wear at a faster rate. It is recommended to apply gentle, even pressure to reduce friction and heat on the pad saver.
